Let’s Organize Your Kitchen Pantry

kitchen organziationYour kitchen pantry can seem like an unorganized mess to some people.  Whether it be a closet, shelving, or armoire here are 6 tips to getting this important place in your kitchen in shape.

Give it a deep clean.

You will want to make sure that you begin your organization process with a fresh look.  You may want to paint or wallpaper the area for some new color. However, the most important thing you will need to do is clean it.  This will mean washing everything from shelves, walls, and floors.

What do you have? What do you need more of?

While all your supplies are out and in the open you will want to take inventory of what you have and what you need more of.  You will want to make a list.  Throw away anything that has expired or do not want anymore and put aside the things that you use the most as you will want to put these back first to make sure they are in a convenient spot.

Fixing those problem areas.

If you have difficulty reaching or can’t find things in your pantry then this is the time to fix that problem.  Make sure you put what you need the most up front.  To help find things you don’t use as often you can label your shelves.  If you have the room you may want to install sliding shelves or baskets so you can get to those hard to reach items.

Finding your items.

The next step in organizing is putting your supplies away so you don’t have a mix of boxes in your pantry especially if your pantry is open. The best way to do this is by using clear containers and jars.

Getting your organizational tools.

Now that you have identified what you will need to organize your pantry you may need to go out and buy those jars, containers, and shelves.  Make sure you bring your list so you don’t forget anything.

Putting everything away.

The last step is putting everything back in your pantry. Group like items so they are easier to find. Start by placing items that you use the most so they are easily accessible. It is okay if you need to move things around to find out what works the best for you.

Finding the right organization system that works for your pantry can help save you time while also making your kitchen look neat and clean!
